Urgent Appeal: Help Madinah Rebuild Lives After Devastating Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Turkey and Syria have been devastated by TWO 7.6+ magnitude earthquakes in the span of a couple of hours. This area was already suffering, now this event has displaced even more people. Thankfully, Madinah has a presence on the ground through our partner, Human Concern International. Donate urgently and may you be rewarded for your generosity in their time of need.

EARTHQUAKE SHAKES TURKEY AND SYRIA

On Monday, February 6th, a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Turkey and aftershocks were felt in several neighboring countries, including Syria and Lebanon. The earthquake was followed by another strong temblor, causing tremors to be felt in distant regions.
On-going count from the field: over 3,500 lives lost.

As reports continue to come in, people have been found trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings in Turkey and its neighboring nations.
The local media has reported the collapse of multiple apartment buildings after the powerful earthquake, with footage emerging of a large building being reduced to rubble in the city of Malatya in southern Turkey. The city of 800,000 people is thought to have been one of the worst-hit areas, with reports suggesting that the Avşar Hotel was largely destroyed.

In neighboring Syria, news of injured people trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings has emerged. The humanitarian organization, Syrian Civil Defense, has declared a state of emergency to rescue those stranded and has called on residents to evacuate residential buildings, go to open spaces, and inform the teams about those trapped under the rubble.
In light of the magnitude of the earthquake, it is likely that there will be significant destruction on a local level, requiring an international response. Search and rescue operations are currently underway across the Turkish region.

Fortunately, Madinah has a presence on the ground through our partner, Human Concern International.

Your support is needed immediately to deliver life-saving aid to those affected by the earthquake.

Here's how you can help:

  • Providing water: when emergencies occur, access to clean water becomes challenging.

  • Providing food: families who have lost their belongings are further challenged with feeding themselves and their children.

  • Providing shelter: without access to temporary shelter, many are left in the streets.

  • Providing medical aid: children and the elderly are at grave risk without the required medical attention.

Your relief today could mean someone's life is saved. Your support means the world.
Thank you for your generosity.
